Rapid Antigen Test

Detects active Sars-Cov-2 infection. For symptomatic & asymptomatic patients. Performed using a nasal swab. Less accurate than PCR. Results Delivered within 30 min or less
Meets most pre-travel screening criteria

PCR Test

Detects active Sars-Cov-2 infection. For symptomatic & asymptomatic patients. Performed using a nasal swab. Most accurate for detecting infection
Expedited (2 hours) and same day processing available. Meets most pre-travel screening criteria

Quantitative Antibody Test

Measure the level of the IgG antibodies against the Spike protein of SARS-COV-2 virus. Unlike most antibody tests, which provide a positive/negative response, this test provides you with a numerical value that indicates the antibody level - making it possible to monitor the antibody wane either after an infection or vaccination.

Antibody Test

Detects current or previous infection. Detects the presence of Covid-19 antibodies due to vaccinations or past COVID-19 infections. Performed on a blood sample (finger prick). Results delivered in 30 min or less

FAQ

  • Antigen and antibody testing offers benefits for you individually, for your immediate neighbors, as well as nationally and globally. The FDA supports antibody testing with the following important points*. Other important considerations are:

For yourself : These tests can help determine if you are currently infected or may have been previously infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, even if you were never diagnosed with COVID-19.

For your loved ones: Notify your family and friends of your previous exposure and recommend they talk to their healthcare provider about testing if you have been in close contact. Inspire those who you have been in contact with to get tested.

For everyone around you: Public health officials can use data from antibody testing to get a more accurate picture of the prevalence of COVID-19. Understanding the true reach of the virus is key to slowing its spread. Aiding the research helps to better understand immune response to COVID-19.

  • PCR, also known as RT-PCR, is the most sensitive and accurate test and involves polymerase chain reaction to detect nucleic acids of the virus which will determine whether a patient is currently infected or in the early or late stages of infection.

You may consider an PCR test if 1) you suspect you have been recently exposed to the virus, 2) you think you have COVID-19, even if you don’t show any signs of being sick, and 3) if you need a COVID-19 test for work or travel purpose. For travel, PCR is the most widely accepted test.

  • A COVID-19 antigen test detects a protein on the virus and determines if a patient is currently contagious and actively shedding the virus. The test is less sensitive than PCR and not as accurate. Results are typically available in 15-30 minutes.

This type of test is designed to detect the Nucleocapsid protein (N-protein) specific to SARS-CoV-2 in nasal swab specimens collected from individuals who are suspected of having COVID-19 within the first five days of symptom onset. You may consider an antigen test if 1) you suspect you have been recently exposed to the virus, 2) you think you have COVID-19, even if you don’t show any signs of being sick, and 3) if you need a COVID-19 test for work or travel purpose. For travel, many countries and destinations accept antigen tests - but always check first as some places and airlines only accept PCR.

  • A COVID-19 antibody test is designed to detect whether you have antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, either from vaccination or prior/current infection. This type of test detects antibodies against either or both the recombinant Nucleocapsid Protein and Spike Protein of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Various options are available. You may consider an antibody test if: 1) You were previously diagnosed with COVID-19, since this test can check whether or not your body has produced the antibodies against the virus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes the disease, 2) You suspect you had COVID-19, even if you never showed signs of being sick, or were previously exposed to the virus. Right now, it is unclear whether people infected previously and acquired antibodies may be less susceptible to reinfection. In the future, a broader use of antibody test may provide more information on this point.

  • COVID-19 Molecular test (also known as Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) is designed to detect the virus’s genetic material (RNA) from a nasal swab. A positive molecular test indicates a very likely active COVID-19 viral infection. There are various types of NAAT molecular tests, such as LAMP (or RT-LAMP), and RT-PCR.

COVID-19 (viral) Antigen test is designed to detect proteins from the virus that causes COVID-19 in nasal swabs (depending on the type of test swabs may be done by arterial nasal (about ½ to ¾ of an inch inside the nose, see CDC infogram), or nasopharyngeal (deep inside the nose, several inches a distance that is equivalent to that from the ear to the nostril, see CDC infogram). A positive antigen test indicates a very likely active COVID-19 viral infection.

COVID-19 Antibody test (also known as serology test) shows whether you have developed antibodies against the virus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19. The test is performed by finger prick or blood drawn. You may have COVID-19 antibodies from a prior infection, even if you never felt sick.

  • Antibodies are proteins that the body produces in response to infections. For many viruses the presence of antibodies provides immunity to the disease. Higher concentration of antibodies (known as high titers) can lead to immunity. Vaccination typically results in the production of antibodies that provide immunity. The antibodies can be produced even if a person has few or no symptoms during the infection. However, as COVID-19 is a new virus, we currently do not know if antibodies provide immunity. It is not known how long antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 will remain present in the body after infection. It is not known whether having antibodies to SARS-CoV- 2 will protect you from getting infected again or help reduce the severity or duration of a future COVID-19 infection. Regardless of your test result, you should continue to follow CDC guidelines to reduce the risk of infection, including social distancing and wearing masks. As always, please refer to your health care provider, FDA, and CDC for further information.

  • COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is a new virus in humans causing a contagious respiratory illness. COVID-19 can present with a mild to severe illness, although some people infected with COVID-19 may have no symptoms at all. Older adults and people of any age who have underlying medical conditions have a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Serious outcomes of COVID-19 include hospitalization and death. The SARS-CoV-2 virus can be spread to others not just while one is sick, but even before a person shows signs or symptoms of being sick (e.g., fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.). A full list of symptoms of COVID-19 can be found on the CDC and FDA website.
